We used to say that Bapti...This is good commentary. We used to say that Baptists have a unique formula for growth. We called it "multiplication by division." In any case, unlike the Southern Baptists, UM General Boards, agencies, seminaries, Council of Bishops, and most annual conference boards are strongly governed by the progressive side. They ":own" the system and want to use institutional power to control the UMC. Additionally, the UMC is a global church. This week, I told a top leader of the WCA that I was disappointed with the outcome of the recent General Conference. Going into the general conference, evangelicals had a vision for renewal and apostolic mission. Coming out of it, they became the de facto caretakers of a dying institution.
